Terms of Service
Effective October 12, 2026
1. Agreement
KnockTurf is canvassing software provided by 14407831 Canada Inc. ("KnockTurf", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using KnockTurf, you agree to these terms on behalf of yourself and the campaign, organisation or business you represent ("your campaign"), and you confirm you have authority to do so. The Data Processing Addendum and the pricing page form part of these terms.
2. Who may use KnockTurf
Campaign administrators must be at least the age of majority where they live. Your campaign may invite canvassers younger than that only where the law allows and with any consent the law requires, and your campaign is responsible for them.
3. Accounts
Keep sign-in details private and remove people who should no longer have access. Your campaign is responsible for what its administrators and canvassers do in KnockTurf. Tell us at once at privacy@knockturf.com if you think an account has been misused.
4. Your campaign's data
Everything your campaign puts into KnockTurf, and everything its canvassers record, belongs to your campaign, and your campaign is the organisation responsible for it under privacy law. You give us permission to store and process it only as needed to provide KnockTurf to your campaign, as set out in the Data Processing Addendum. You can download it at any time.
5. What your campaign is responsible for
- Having the right to collect, upload and use everything it puts into KnockTurf, and telling the people concerned what the law requires it to tell them.
- Using any voters' list only for the purposes the law allows. In Ontario, for example, a voters' list from a municipal clerk may be used for election purposes only.
- Following Canada's anti-spam law and privacy law for any email or text it sends, including recording consent, identifying itself and honouring opt-outs.
- Respecting anyone who asks not to be visited or contacted.
6. Names
KnockTurf stores the names of individual people for a campaign only after an administrator accepts the names terms in the dashboard and chooses how long names are kept. If we change those terms, names are switched off until an administrator accepts the new version. Switching names off stops their use; it does not delete them. Names are deleted only after notice, as the Data Processing Addendum describes.
7. Acceptable use
You may not use KnockTurf to break the law; to harass, intimidate or mislead anyone; to visit or contact people who have asked you not to; to misuse a voters' list; to upload information you have no right to hold; or to probe, overload or get around the security of the service.
8. Fees, credit and taxes
- Prices are on the pricing page, in Canadian dollars, before applicable taxes, which we add at checkout. Payments are processed by Stripe.
- Visits are charged as the pricing page describes when they are recorded. Your campaign's first payment comes before its first canvasser is added.
- Credit is prepaid. It does not expire while your account is open, and it is not refundable, except where the law requires or where we end the service without cause, in which case we refund unused credit.
- Additional canvassers on pay as you go are a one-time fee per canvasser, as shown on the pricing page.
- We may change prices for future purchases with notice on the pricing page. A change never reduces credit you have already bought.
9. Suspension
We may suspend access, after notice where practical, if your campaign breaks these terms, fails to pay, or puts the service, other campaigns or the public at risk. We will restore access once the problem is fixed.
10. Ending the service
You can stop using KnockTurf at any time. To end a campaign, an administrator closes it in the dashboard. That schedules deletion of its names and the contact details typed on visits at least 30 days ahead, with notice to every administrator, and you can download everything first.
Closing a campaign does not by itself end the account or delete door-visit records and the address list. To have all remaining data deleted, write to privacy@knockturf.com; we will delete it within 30 days of your request, or of the scheduled names deletion if that is later, and confirm when it is done. Copies in backups expire within 30 days after that.
We may end the service for your campaign with 30 days' notice, or at once if your campaign seriously breaks these terms. If we end it without cause, we refund unused credit.
11. Changes to the service
We improve KnockTurf continually and may change or remove features. We will give notice before removing a feature your campaign relies on, where we can.
12. No warranty
We work to keep KnockTurf available and accurate, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that maps, addresses or door counts from third-party sources are complete or correct, or that using it will produce any campaign result. Some laws do not allow these exclusions; where they apply, they do not.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, KnockTurf is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue, data or votes. Our total liability for any claims relating to KnockTurf is limited to the greater of the fees your campaign paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose and $100. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.
14. Your campaign's responsibility to us
Your campaign will compensate KnockTurf for claims, fines and reasonable costs that arise because your campaign broke these terms or the law, including misuse of a voters' list, information it had no right to upload, or messages it sent.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Ontario, sitting in Toronto, have jurisdiction over any dispute, unless the law where your campaign is located requires otherwise.
16. General
We will give at least 30 days' notice of material changes to these terms by email to your campaign's administrators; continuing to use KnockTurf after that means you accept them. These terms, the Data Processing Addendum and the pricing page are the whole agreement between us. If any part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. You may not transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them to a successor to the business, with notice. Notices to us go to privacy@knockturf.com or 644 Millway Ave, Concord, ON L4K 4H4.
KnockTurf is built around Canadian law. If your campaign's data is also subject to privacy law elsewhere (for example the EU General Data Protection Regulation or a US state law), please talk to us before using KnockTurf for that data.
